Makes the perfect Formal Hedge or WindbreakEmerald Arborvitae is a selection of White Cedar that has the most incredible vibrant green foliage all year round.  Arborvitae are very urban savvy tolerating even clay soil and pollution and yet, still fast growing. Emerald Arborvitae makes the ideal formal hedge, screening plant, or windbreak.  Specimen plants are great for softening the corner of a building or home.  It is the ideal screening evergreen for homes in residential areas because it stays only 3-4’ wide and won’t use up your whole yard.  Trimmed into a more formal hedge of most any size up to 12 or 15’, or plant them and just allow them to take their natural form. The beautiful emerald green color is almost waxy in appearance compared with other Arborvitae.  We have noticed that this selection produces less brown seed remaining clean and fresh looking all year long. Water well at planting and so important to keep watered until they have roots in your soil.  Always a great idea to water well in late fall before the soil freezes.Emerald Green Arborvitae is great for wildlife cover and protection for small birds.  They make a terrific backdrop to a showy shrub border.  Imagine some of our woody Hydrangea selections planted in front of them to really show off their pink and white flowers.  Or, how about reblooming Lilacs or Azaleas?  They also make a terrific backdrop to your flower and perennial gardens. *Hardy*Urban savvy*Narrow and upright*15’ tall and only 3-4’ wide (can be pruned to keep smaller if needed)What’s Going on With my Arborvitae?.
